Add Another Trump Team Member’s Name to Potential Obstruction Charge

- Februari 01, 2018

Overnight, there was some chatter about the latest player from Team Trump to be caught up in the wide net of the Russia probe.

Hope Hicks, White House Communications director, may find herself, not just questioned, but the subject in a line of inquiry, very soon.

According to the Daily Beast, as Mueller’s team tightens their focus on the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and several Russians, Hope Hicks played a role, as well.

Mark Corallo, the former spokesman for President Donald Trump’s legal team, will reportedly tell special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators that White House Communications Director Hope Hicks said Donald Trump Jr.’s emails about the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians “will never get out.” According to The New York Times, Corallo was concerned that Hicks “could be contemplating obstructing justice.”

Ok. First things first, Hicks’ lawyer, Robert P. Trout, claims she never said it. That raises the question as to how Corallo would know. I’m assuming if this thing has legs, that much will come out later.

Secondly, how much trouble can she get in for telling Trump Jr. his meeting with the Russians would never get out? Does obstruction require more?

We’ll have to wait and see. For now, it’s just one more layer, one more name.
