Democrats Won’t Participate in Senate Judiciary Questioning of Kavanaugh Regarding Sexual Assault Allegations

- September 19, 2018

It would appear that Democrats, the party accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of having committed sexual assault against a woman at 17, have no intention of actually questioning the accused further.

According to Fox News’s Peter Doocy, a phone call will take place later this afternoon between Kavanaugh and the Senate Judiciary Committee to ask more questions about the allegations, however, Democrats have reportedly refused participation in the process.

According to Fox News reporter Chad Pergram, the reason Democrats have backed out is due to the fact that they find the staff-only phone call “unacceptable,” adding that the call “is in complete violation of how this committee has worked.”

This refusal to participate is in line with Democrats seeming to hold up proceedings in regards to the investigation. According to Sen. Chuck Grassley, Sen. Dianne Feinstein has also refused to help in the investigation despite being the Democrat that raised this issue in the first place so close to Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote.

It appears that this may be another tactic to delay solving the allegation issues with the larger goal of delaying the vote.
