Eric Holder Backs Off Call For Violence Against Republicans After Spanking By Michelle Obama

- Oktober 12, 2018

Former Obama Attorney general Eric Holder backed off his call for violence against Republicans–but only after being spanked by former First Lady Michelle Obama on the Today Show. After Obama called him out, Holder sanctimoniously told Republicans–who have recently been shot, beaten, doxxed, harassed at home and run out of restaurants by Democrats–to “Stop the fake outrage.”

Holder posted to Twitter Thursday afternoon, “Ok, stop the fake outrage. I’m obviously not advocating violence. (In fact, when I was AG violent crime in the US was historically low.) I’m saying Republicans are undermining our democracy and Democrats need to be tough, proud and stand up for the values we believe in – the end.”

Holder had said, in remarks last weekend recorded on video, “”It is time for us, as Democrats, to be as tough as they are, to be as dedicated as they are, to be as committed as they are. Michelle always says — I love her; she and my wife are like, really tight, which always scares me and Barack — but Michelle always says, ‘When they go low, we go high.’ No. When they go low, we kick ’em.” To which the audience enthusiastically chanted, “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Michelle Obama was asked in an interview on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday about Holder’s comments and that of former First Lady Hillary Clinton about her call for Democrats to be uncivil to Republicans.  NBC reported on Obama’s rebuke of Holder and Clinton.

Former first lady Michelle Obama said Thursday she stands by her “when they go low, we go high” motto despite calls this week by some high-profile Democrats to do the opposite.

“Fear is not a proper motivator,” Obama said. “Hope wins out. If you think about how you want your kids to be raised, how you want them to think about life and their opportunities, do you want them afraid of their neighbors? Do you want them angry? Do you want them vengeful?”

She added that in thinking about which values to promote for children, “you have to think about which motto do you want them to live by.”

…But former Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday at a campaign event in Georgia that Democrats need a new slogan, and suggested: “When they go low, we kick them.” A few days later, Clinton said in an interview with CNN, “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.”

“What are the things you’re telling your girls? Which motto do you want them to live by?” Obama, who has two daughters of her own, said. “I have to think about that as a mother, as someone who’s a role model to young girls. We want them to grow up with promise and hope, and we can’t model something different if we want them to be better than that.”
