Flashback: Mattis Warned Trump of Security Concerns in Israel Embassy Move

- Desember 25, 2018

The liberal media and DC establishment suffered a complete meltdown on Thursday after the sudden resignation by Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

Talk of impeachment, coups, and suicide abound over fears that Mattis was the last ‘adult’ keeping President Trump in check. Mattis resigned as Trump moved to assert mastery over his presidency this week in key areas after nearly two years on the job.

Kristinn reported on the media reaction earlier.

New York Times banner headline on Mattis resignation.

Former AFP White House reporter  Andrew Beatty wrote that nearly anywhere else Trump would forced out of office by a military coup, “Syria withdrawal, Afghanistan draw down, Mattis gone, govt shutdown looming, President making decisions on the fly. Almost any other place in the world the guys in camouflage would be at the TV station by now.”

Conservative commentator Erick Erickson passive/aggressively called for a coup, “If we lived in a lesser country than our great nation, today is the day we really would be talking about a military coup. Soldiers down to the enlisted ranks are raising hell about the President’s Syria decision.”

Foreign Policy Pentagon reporter Lara Seligman wrote the press corp is contemplating suicide over Mattis’ resignation, “I think I speak for all national security reporters tonight when I say I’m about ready to jump off a cliff. But at least I already wrote the “who will replace Mattis” story two months (only two months?????) ago

For some reason the liberal media did not have the same reaction when Barack Obama fired General Mattis back in 2013.

Funny that the liberal media did not mention that Mattis warned Trump of security concerns if he moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as he promised.

Mattis was wrong and Trump was right.

The Hill reported at the time.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Mattis were reportedly both opposed to President Trump’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem due to security concerns, according to multiple news outlets.

Mattis and Tillerson both expressed to Trump that moving the embassy would endanger American diplomats and troops stationed in the Middle East and Muslim countries, The Associated Press reported.

Reuters also reported that Tillerson and Mattis opposed the move from Tel Aviv, citing U.S. officials.

Trump made the announcement Wednesday that the United States officially recognizes Jerusalem as the “political capital” of Israel and directed the State Department to begin the process of moving the U.S. Embassy there.
