AOC Cites Holocaust as She Accuses Pres. Trump of Putting Life of Ilhan Omar in Danger Over Criticism of Her 9/11 ‘Some People Did Something’ Comment

- April 13, 2019

Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) cited the Holocaust to defend anti-Semitic Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) after President Donald Trump posted a scathing video that juxtaposed images of the September 11, 2001 Islamist terror attacks on the U.S. with Omar’s dismissive comment about 9/11, “Some people did something.”

In a tweet posted Friday night, Ocasio-Cortez accused Trump of putting Omar’s life in danger and posted a photo of the famous World War II poem by Martin Niemoller, “Members of Congress have a duty to respond to the President’s explicit attack today. @IlhanMN’s life is in danger. For our colleagues to be silent is to be complicit in the outright, dangerous targeting of a member of Congress. We must speak out. “First they came…”

Video posted by Trump earlier Friday evening.

Original video clip of Omar’s comment made before a CAIR meeting in California on March 23 that went viral this week after it was posted by the Imam of Peace.

Text of Niemoller poem seen in the Holocaust Museum photo posted by Ocasio-Cortez:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
