OPINION: America First Cynthia Loomis Would Be a Great Candidate to Run Against Establishment Hawk Liz Cheney in Wyoming

- Mei 08, 2019

Former Republican Congresswoman Cynthia Loomis would be the ideal candidate to run against Rep. Liz Cheney and represent the America First agenda in Wyoming.

Despite the ideology’s spectacular repudiation by primary voters in 2016, neoconservativism and its associated political dynasties aren’t quite ready to give up their power.

Rep. Liz Cheney considering a run for Wyoming’s senate seat is the latest example. Luckily, there’s at least one potential MAGA candidate who could mount an effective primary challenge against the establishment hawk — former congresswoman Cynthia Loomis, who is also considering entering the contest for Sen. Enzi’s soon-to-be vacated seat.

Sources close to Loomis confirmed to the Gateway Pundit that she is indeed looking at the race. They added that she plans to make her decision independent of whether Cheney decides to run for Senator Mike Enzi’s seat or not.

However, there are several reasons why Loomis should put extra consideration into running if Cheney does throw her hat into the ring, which is looking increasingly likely.

Liz Cheney, the 52-year-old daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is the epitome of the establishment swamp. Much like her father, she has a strong penchant for neoconservatism — the ideology that sees America spending more of its resources on pointless bloodshed abroad than taking care of its citizens at home.

Rep. Cheney is so hawkish, in fact, that she once scolded Senator John McCain for not being hawkish enough. Senator John McCain — the man who never saw a country that he did not want to bomb.

The clash between Cheney and McCain happened when he opposed Gina Haspel as CIA director in 2018 over her role in the torture program. She accused the Arizona senator of “slandering” the Bush administration and things became so heated that it ultimately lead to a fight between her and the other political dynasty princess — Meghan McCain.

In contrast to Cheney, Loomis comes from an anti-establishment Tea Party background. As a congresswoman, Loomis was a member of  the Freedom Caucus and had no problem standing up against establishment leadership in the party. She was the national co-chair for the Rand Paul campaign. She would be a great ally to President Donald Trump in the Senate, while bringing another strong liberty-minded conservative voice to the table.

We also know that Loomis is serious about getting America’s cataclysmic budget deficit under control. She has endorsed Senator Paul’s “Penny Plan” — which calls for Congress to reduce spending by at least one penny on the dollar each year. This, obviously, would reduce spending by one percent each year. You would be hard pressed to find an American who wouldn’t like to see our budget balanced without a tax increase.

Immediately following Enzi’s announcement, buzz about Loomis’ potential run began to spread on social media — with many anti-establishment Republicans expressing strong support for the prospect.

The swamp and political insiders are a problem that President Trump campaigned against. Electing more of them is not the answer. Loomis is.
