Over a Hundred People are Arrested in a Central Ohio Sex and Human Trafficking Sting

- September 21, 2019

Wow.

In Ohio, over 30 law enforcement agencies have come together to expose a gigantic sex trafficking ring, and the participants run the gamut.

A large-scale sting by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force blew off the doors in three counties — Franklin, Delaware, and Fairfield.

According to Maj. Steven Tucker of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office — as reported by WBNS — arrests included 24 men who turned up at an undisclosed location so they could have sex with a child they’d met online.

But surprise: the “child” was a police officer.

Steven laid it out:

“The reality that they were operating in, is that there absolutely was a child at the other end of that device, and that’s who they were coming to see.”

So how do they know for sure that the guys were specifically gonna have sex? Well, there were a few clues:

“They show up with sex toys, they show up with lubrication.”

That does seem suspicious.

“They show up with things that clearly somebody isn’t going to show up to a house with, unless they intended to engage in sexual activity.”

More from CBS 10:

“This four-part simultaneous operation involved more than 30 law enforcement agencies,” said Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, announcing the operation Friday.

It was focused not just on internet predators, but human traffickers and the men who feed the sex trade with their dollars.

“Criminals involved in trafficking other human beings prey upon those individuals that are already at risk, subjecting them to prostitution and addiction,” Yost said. “Predators who seek to harm our children and grandchildren are not hiding in the bushes, they’re lurking on the internet.”

Among the bamboozled were a 31-year-old emergency room doctor and — possibly worse — a former church youth director.

In addition to the child sex sting, thirty-six dudes were taken into custody for trying to buy the ol’ S-E-X.

But men weren’t the only ones involved: Forty-three women were arrested for selling it.

Those chicks’ll be taken to social services, among them Franklin County’s CATCH Court program.

Charly McClain said it in 1980:

Who’s cheatin’ who, who’s being true
Who don’t even care anymore
It makes you wonder
Who’s doing right with someone tonight
And who’s car is parked next door

You never know what’s going on with people.

As for the two dozen: Thanks to some who found out, perhaps a few more children are safe in Ohio tonight.
