Female activist Therese Patricia Okoumou created a 4-hour standoff with the police after climbing the Statue of Liberty on Independence Day.
She was taken into custody and told police she wouldn’t come down from the statue until all the children detained by ICE were released.
Authorities identified the woman as Therese Okoumou, an immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
It is unclear whether she is here legally or illegally.
Okoumou is a frequent activist against the government and assaulted a police officer at a protest last year.

Okoumou said the reason why she climbed the Statue of Liberty is because she took Michelle Obama’s advice “when they go low, we go high,” LITERALLY.
Therese Patricia Okoumou wore a ‘white supremacy is terrorism’ t-shirt as she stood outside of the court on Thursday.
Okoumou said, “Our beloved first lady that I care so much about said when they go low, we go high, and I went as high as I could,” Fox News reported.
She also said she would not climb the Statue of Liberty again because “the judge told me not to.”

Seven protesters were arrested for their “Abolish ICE” protest Wednesday afternoon.
The unhinged protesters ruined Independence Day for many Americans visiting the Statue of Liberty as the National Park Service was forced to shut the park down for the remainder of the afternoon.
Therese Okoumou also put law enforcement in danger as they scaled the Statue of Liberty in order to make the arrest.
