Chinese Americans for Trump to Protest Racist Affirmative Action Laws at October Rally

- September 30, 2018

The group Chinese Americans for Trump will be holding a protest in Boston on October 14th against racist affirmative action laws that are prohibiting Asian Americans from being accepted into colleges simply because of their race.

The protest will take place in Copley Square and organizers are calling for others to join them.

“Many people believe that affirmative action helps minorities but in reality, it doesn’t. I want to make sure that this non-partisan issue doesn’t go unnoticed and forgotten,” Kathy Zhu, one of the organizers who is speaking at the rally told The Gateway Pundit. “This also is basically racist towards black students — since the government is literally saying they can’t get as good of an SAT score as their opponents.”

Asian students are currently suing Harvard, with support of the Justice Department, for discriminating against them and giving coveted admissions to lesser qualified students of other races to satisfy affirmative action quotas.

“Harvard has failed to carry its demanding burden to show that its use of race does not inflict unlawful racial discrimination on Asian-Americans,” the Justice Department said in a filing.

According to a report from the New York Times, “a handful of states already ban public universities from relying on affirmative action, pushing several toward a model that takes socioeconomic factors into account instead of race. Public universities in California and Washington have tried to engineer class-based diversity in their student bodies, believing that giving a lift to lower-income students will end up bringing in more minority students as well.”

Harvard has defended their right to take race into consideration when looking at applicants, and vowed to “vigorously defend” the right for colleges to do so.

“Harvard does not discriminate against applicants from any group, and will continue to vigorously defend the legal right of every college and university to consider race as one factor among many in college admissions, which the Supreme Court has consistently upheld for more than 40 years,” Harvard said in a statement.

While Harvard claims they are within their legal rights while considering race of students, the Justice Department said in a statement that they have failed to prove it.

“Harvard has failed to show that it does not unlawfully discriminate against Asian-Americans,” the Justice Department said in a statement in August.
